Santo Domingo Day Trip from Punta Cana: What You See and How Long It Takes
Santo Domingo is the first city of the Americas. This day trip takes you from your hotel in Punta Cana to its Colonial Zone and back in one day: about 12 hours in total, from the pickup until you return.

What you see in Santo Domingo
The Colonial Zone is not a set piece: Europeans built it, and people still live inside it. You visit it on foot with your guide.
- Calle Las Damas, the first paved street on the continent.
- The museums, with the tickets already included.
- The Colonial Zone, with a guide who explains what you are looking at, so you come out understanding what you saw.
- Free time for shopping.
How long the Santo Domingo day trip takes
The tour lasts about 12 hours, counting from the moment we pick you up at your hotel until you are back.
Santo Domingo is about 170 to 200 kilometers from Punta Cana and Bávaro, on the Autopista del Coral highway. By road, count roughly 2 to 2.5 hours each way, depending on traffic and where your hotel is. The rest of the day, around 7 hours, is for the visit and lunch.
It is a long day, so it helps to start well rested.
Tip: if you need to be back at a certain time, tell me when you book and we plan the day around it.
