What the day is like

THE RANCH AFTER DARK.

4 hours of night at the ranch, with moments you will want to remember.

  1. Pickup point. I’ll arrange your pickup at your hotel, or at the nearest meeting point. I’ll come for you as evening falls, at your hotel or wherever we agree.
  2. The ranch. Your buggy and the briefing from the Guide. We hand you the buggy and the guide shows you how to drive it. Then you take the wheel.
  3. The route. Driving at night. This time we don’t touch the road: the route stays inside the ranch. At night it’s a different place.
  4. The Typical Dominican House. The Taíno stop. The guide tells you about Taíno customs, still alive today. Then a traditional Dominican dance.
  5. The tasting. The tasting house. Chocolate, coffee, mamajuana and a cigar, made the way they always have been. You taste them right there.
  6. The cenote. The cenote, on foot. You walk down to the cenote. Music, a cold drink and the spring water, at night.
  7. Dinner and party. Dinner and the carnival. You go up for the buffet dinner and round off the night with Dominican carnival.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum age to drive?

You must be 17 or older to drive. Passengers can join from 12 years old.

Can you see well enough to drive at night?

Yes. The buggy has enough lights to see the trail well during the whole ride.

Where do you drive?

Inside the ranch. Unlike the daytime ride, the night ride does not go out onto the road.

What happens if the buggy stops on the trail?

You are not left alone. A guide drives in front of the group and two staff members follow behind. If your buggy has a problem, the team helps you and, if needed, gives you another buggy.

How long does it last?

About 4 hours in total. This time includes everything: the buggy ride around the ranch, the Taíno stop, the traditional dance, the tastings, the cenote with live music, the buffet dinner and the closing carnival.

Is the cigar included?

Yes. One small cigar per person is included. If you would like another one, or a bigger one, you can buy it there.
